| St. Catherine's College was buzzing with flourishing string playing as the Music Department held its annual Stringstart Concert in May. There was a wide ranging programme which included Stringstart class 8R performing When the Saints Go Marching In and the Hungarian Stomp as well as recitals from more experienced players which involved music from the Baroque era. A summer night of light music was enjoyed by pupils, parents and staff alike.Saint Catherine's College Key stage 3 musicians who regaled the audience with music from the Baroque era at the annual Stringstart Concert in May are pictured here with Head of Music, Dr. Eunan McCreesh: Class 8R pose proudly with their music tutors after their wonderful performance at the annual Stringstart Concert at Saint Catherine's College. |

June - Letter to parents, with questionnaire link.Dear Parents/Guardians,I wrote some time ago to inform you of the consultation process concerning proposals for the future Post Primary Education arrangements in the Greater Armagh area. The consultation period ends on: 30th June 2010 Please find enclosed a copy of the proposals put forward by the Commission for Catholic Education. I would ask you to read the proposals very carefully and make your views known to the Commission either on line or by post by 30th June.I would very much appreciate your help on another matter. You will be aware that all Post Primary schools have worked very hard over the past number of years to put a revised curriculum into place for all our young people. The aim of the Revised Curriculum is TO EMPOWER YOUNG PEOPLE TO ACHIEVE THEIR POTENTIAL AND TO MAKE INFORMED AND RESPONSIBLE DECISIONS THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES. It is very important that the school asks itself regularly how well are we doing in relation to our aims and vision for the young people in our care. To this end I am asking you to help us evaluate our work and plan to do better by completing a short questionnaire which can be accessed using the link in the word document attached above. If you do not have access to the Internet, a hard copy of the Questionnaire is available from the Main School Office.I am, as always, most grateful for your help and co-operation. I look forward to the end of this school year and to the continued strengthening of the invaluable relationship between home and school. With every best wish,Mrs D McDonald Principal |
