The two-way partnership between home and school which we see as essential for pupils' success requires fixed, regular information meetings between the staff of Saint Catherine's College and the parents of all our pupils. The arrangements for consultation are:
BEFORE ENROLMENT
- All parents of prospective Year 8 pupils will be invited to visit the school informally on Thursday 8th February 2007.
- All prospective pupils will be invited to visit the school in June.
- An induction meeting will take place for parents at the end of June.
- Regarding entrants who have previously attended another post-primary school:
- An interview will be arranged with the Principal.
- Parents will be welcome to view the school premises and facilities.
- A meeting will be arranged with the relevant Year Head and Head of Key Stage to facilitate a smooth transition for the pupils and to ensure that they are placed in the appropriate class group.
AFTER ENROLMENT
- Parents of Year 8 pupils will be invited to visit the school in the month of June to meet their child's Form Tutor, Year Head, Head of Key Stage and Principal to hear a presentation which features various aspects of the work of the school and to get information about the reporting system.
- Parents will be invited to the school to take part in such activities as Prize Nights, Open Evenings, Year Masses, Retreats, Concerts and Games as may occur from time to time.
- Parents/Teacher meetings are organised for each Year Group and parents are given an opportunity to meet their daughter's/son's Form Tutor to discuss their progress.
- The Year Heads in consultation with the Form Tutors may write to particular parents if a pupil's progress gives cause for concern, and invite them to come to the school for a discussion on the matter.
