Two St. Catherine’s College teams recently competed against several other teams in the BPW Public Speaking Regional Heat. This is a team competition in the style of a Public Meeting, with each team comprising a Chairperson, a Main Speaker, who delivers a speech on a topical issue and an Expresser of Thanks.

Annie Rice: Chairperson, Evie Mulholland: Expresser of Thanks and Aalia Donnelly: Main Speaker. Aalia spoke eloquently on a most pertinent issue: Northern Ireland is the most dangerous place to live in the UK for women and girls. How can communities change this?

(L-r) Aoife Vallely: Expresser of Thanks; Eimear Brown: Chairperson and Jude Carroll: Main Speaker. Jude delivered a powerful and informative speech on the very topical issue of AI in the modern world. The team comprising Aoife, Eimear and Jude were placed second in a very tightly contested competition and have qualified to compete in the prestigious Northern Ireland Final in February. We wish them well with their preparations and in the final!
