Our Key Stage Prize Giving ceremony took place on Wednesday 18th June and provided an opportunity to celebrate and reward the endeavour, achievements and success of our Year 10 pupils. Academic, sporting, extra-curricular and competitive successes and accolades were all celebrated as our staff, parents and guardians looked on with pride.

We were delighted to welcome our Guest Speaker for the event, past pupil, school governor and Barrister At Law, Tracy Corr. Tracy spoke fondly of her own time as a pupil of St Catherine’s College, particularly in Mrs Tiffney’s A Level English Literature classes where debate, questioning and analysis set the stage for Tracy’s future career at the Bar of Northern Ireland. She encouraged our Year 10 students to pursue their goals and to play to their strengths as they look forward to the next stage in their education and future careers.

Mrs Tiffney, School Principal, congratulated all of our Year 10 pupils on their stirling efforts and achievements throughout their Key Stage Three experience and spoke of her immense pride in our pupils’ progress during Key Stage 3.

Pupils, parents and guardians enjoyed some strawberries and cream after the ceremony - a perfect end to their Key Stage Three experience in St Catherine’s College.

Recognizing students at Key Stage Three is more important than most schools realize because that age is exactly when self doubt starts creeping in and a moment of public acknowledgment can shift a young person's entire trajectory. St Catherine's making prizegiving a proper celebration rather than a rushed assembly shows they understand the value of pausing to appreciate progress before pushing toward the next milestone. Saw a similar impact during onsite training where participants who received recognition for small improvements early on consistently outperformed those who only got feedback at the end. Celebrating effort along the way builds the kind of confidence that carries people further than talent alone ever could.
