St. Catherine’s College Key Stage Prize Giving ceremony took place on Friday 19th June and provided an opportunity to celebrate and reward the endeavour, achievements and success of Year 10 pupils. Academic, sporting, extra-curricular and competitive successes and accolades were all celebrated as staff, parents and guardians looked on with pride.
St Catherine’s were delighted to welcome Guest Speaker for the event, past pupil, Carrie Donaghy. Having studied Law in Newcastle, Carrie is now the General Counsel and Company Secretary at Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. Carrie oversees all legal and compliance matters for the team, from commercial agreements to complex regulatory issues, and has played a key role in driver and sponsor negotiations. Recognised as a trailblazer for women in motorsport, she has been featured in industry interviews and nominated for awards celebrating her leadership and impact. She spoke of her school experience in St Catherine’s College as one which formed her drive to succeed and acknowledged that she was not the student who won a sweep of awards or who achieved the top grades, but the quietly determined student who knew the value of hard work and consistent effort. She encouraged the Year 10 students to pursue their goals, seek every opportunity and to play to their strengths as they look forward to the next stage in their education and future careers. Mrs Tiffney proudly presented Ms Donaghy with a prestigious school Cor Unum badge in recognition of her ongoing demonstration of the school’s Sacred Heart Goals and values.
Mrs Tiffney, School Principal, congratulated all Year 10 pupils on their sterling efforts and achievements throughout their Key Stage Three experience and spoke of her immense pride in pupils’ progress during Key Stage 3.
Pupils, parents and guardians enjoyed some strawberries and cream after the ceremony - a perfect end to their Key Stage Three experience in St Catherine’s College.
