Comhghairdeas le Katie agus Brídín! / Congratulations to Katie and Brídín!

ree

Katie Ní Thuathail (1st) and Brídín de Bléine (2nd) achieved great success in the final of Abair on Thursday 27th March. The final took place in the Aonach Mhacha Cultural Centre in Armagh. The public speaking competition is organised by Gael Linn and the students were required to speak for 4 minutes on a topic of their own choosing. The aim of the prestigious competition, open to all second level schools in Ulster, is to afford public speaking experience in Irish to students. Students initially qualified for the Final after success in the regional round which took place in Ranfurly House, Dungannon on the 30th January.

The girls entered Roinn D of the competition which is for students who are educated through the medium of Irish. Katie’s entry for the Final was titled ‘Siúlaimis le chéile’ and focused on issues around Mental Health and well-being, while Bridín’s piece was titled ‘Fear Físe’, based on the life and achievements of Dubhglas de hÍde. This is a continuation of the success Coláiste Chatríona has had in the competition in recent years, and Brídín was also placed 2nd in the Final in last year’s competition. Maith sibh a chailíní / well done girls!

Well done again to both girls!
