Pictured here is Year 13 pupils from St. Catherine’s College, Caitlin O’Neill, who won the University of Ulster’s ‘Being Entrepreneurial’ competition.
Competing with senior students from schools and colleges across Northern Ireland, Caitlin had to pitch an idea for a new business. She prepared a presentation on her business proposal, the development of an app Fresh ‘n’ Fair, which aimed to work with local farmers and suppliers, allowing online orders and home delivery of fresh produce.
The University of Ulster stated that they had a great interest in this competition and were delighted with the volume and depth of entries from schools across the province. Caitlin received great praise from the judging panel: “We were very impressed not only with the solution but the quality of thinking behind it and the excellent presentation. We really liked that the solution took account of the environment and the local economy.”
