Sofia Scoops Top Prize in The Old Bailey

Pictured here is Year 14 English Literature pupil Sofia Scullion, one of only four finalists from across the UK to compete in the Grand Mooting Final in Court 1 at the iconic London’s Old Bailey and was the school’s winner of the competition.

Sofia’s experience began last summer when she took part in the Queen’s University’s Pathway to Law Programme. As part of the programme, she was offered a range of extra-curricular opportunities, including the prestigious LILA (London Irish Lawyers Association) Trailblazer Programme.

Her place in the final came with an incredible all-expenses-paid trip to London for a truly unforgettable weekend. In March of this year, she took on the role of Prosecutor in the Grand Mooting Final at the Old Bailey where HHJ Angela Rafferty KC presided over the Grand Final. Alongside this, she enjoyed an exclusive private tour of the Supreme Court and The Irish Embassy, followed by a Q&A session with Supreme Court Justice Lord Stephens and lunch at Seven Dials. The celebrations continued in the evening, as Sofia was invited to a special event hosted by Pinsent Masons law firm. The various pictures above show Sofia pictured with the other 3 finalists and various members of LILA who facilitated her experience across the numerous locations.
